RVT Sponsors Royal Welsh Grassland Event

23rd April 2018

;

RVT are proud to be main sponsors at the Welsh Grassland Event in conjunction with John Deere, JCB and Kuhn. The event is taking place by kind permission of Martin Evans Contractors on Wednesday 16th May at Four Crosses, Llanymynech, Powys, SY22 6SN.  RVT will be showcasing grassland machinery on our 11 acres of working demo plot with machines also at work on the silage pits and muck area.

On our grass plot, visitors will be able to see the John Deere 8600i Self Propelled Forage Harvester,  R950, F310 & 331 Mower Conditioners, C441 combination baler, F441R round baler and L1533 large square baler in action with a range of John Deere tractors from 130-250hp. Also on show will be the new V451M variable chamber round baler.

New Variable Chamber Balers

New for 2018, the V400 Series will replace the existing 800 and 900 Series models. These high capacity balers have been designed to work more efficiently and productively in all crop conditions from wet grass to dry, brittle straw, offering farmers and contractors increased versatility and ease of operation.

Key features include a durable, extra heavy duty welded frame and a proven feeding system with a larger diameter pick-up and one-piece in-line auger rotor for improved intake and crop flow. Heavier duty components such as bigger drive chains, oversize roller bearings, a new bale density tension system and Hardox steel rotor tines have also been incorporated in the new designs.

The V451M multi-crop baler which will be on demonstration is ideal for medium to high volume use where the focus is on producing uniform bales as quickly and consistently as possible, offering the option of a heavier duty, higher capacity five tine bar pick-up with 6mm tines.

The range’s new concept bale chamber combines six smooth pattern belts and three aggressive chamber rollers for true multi-crop capability and reliable bale starting in all conditions. There is a choice of net only or net and twine wrapping options, and all models are compatible with John Deere’s weather resistant B-Wrap system.

A full width drop-floor unplugging system is standard on the M and R balers. This uses a unique parallelogram mechanism and is the widest on the market, enabling the operator to remove blockages instantly, from the tractor cab.

Different BaleTrak monitors are available depending on model, with the higher specification BaleTrak Plus unit controlling the bale density and size, drop-floor unplugging system, soft core pressure and diameter and knife selection from the tractor cab. R models are ISOBUS certified and can be controlled from a GreenStar display in the cab.

High capacity trailed bale wrapper

From KUHN a selection of mowers, rakes, tedders and wrappers will be working the field, including their  high capacity round bale wrapper, the RW 1810. With a 30% faster cycle time compared to the previous RW 1800 round bale wrappers, plus features which include KUHN’s AUTOLOAD capability, INTELLIWRAP system and optional 3D wrapping, the new RW 1810 can wrap up to 100 bales per hour with six layers of film on a 1.25m bale.

Two high speed satellite wrapping arms rotate at up to 40 rpm during wrapping (when driving at 5 kmh or faster) and apply 70% pre-stretch to the film as standard to produce a tightly bound bale.  The amount of pre-stretch can also be reduced to 60% where necessary and the wrapper can be set to automatically stop or operate at half speed if one of the film rolls tears or runs out.

KUHN’s AUTOLOAD facility enables the new machine to quickly, gently and automatically load, wrap and unload round bales of up to 1,400kg in weight and up to 160cm in diameter without any operator input and without the need for the tractor and baler to come to a standstill.  This not only increases overall capacity, but also reduces fuel consumption and prevents operator fatigue.

The RW 1810 is an inline baler wrapper so can be operated behind a tractor or directly behind a baler.

Film application is controlled by KUHN’s INTELLIWRAP system which allows the operator to select even and odd numbers of film layers to be applied by adjusting the film overlap to match crop quality and storage periods.

KUHN’s optional 3D wrapping system, which uses pivoting pre-stretchers, can also be specified: this system packs a tighter bale by removing more air and ensures the edges of the bale are better protected by creating a 20cm overlap across this vulnerable zone.  It also prevents rigid grass stems from puncturing the first layers of film by applying the film in the same direction that the bale is turning on the wrapping table.

Silage and Muck Area

RVT will also have a presence in the muck and silage pit area with a Joskin Tornado and Modulo and  435s loading shovel from JCB. The event is set to be a great showcase for grassland farmers, and RVT look forward to seeing you on the day.  For more details please visit https://www.royalwelshgrasslandevent.com/
